Five arrested after man stabbed in Lower Stone Street, Maidstone

Five people have been arrested, two on suspicion of attempted murder, after a man was stabbed in Maidstone town centre.

Kent Police was called at 4am on Saturday to reports of a disturbance in Lower Stone Street.

They arrived to find a man with stab wounds near the junction by block of flats Miller Heights.

He was taken to a London hospital by air ambulance where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

The road was still sealed off between Romney Place and Wat Tyler Way until 3pm.

Three people were arrested yesterday.

Two of the men, both aged 22 and from Orpington and Crystal Palace, Greater London were detained on suspicion of attempted murder.

A third man, aged 22 and from Camberwell, was arrested on suspicion of assault.

Two women from Gillingham, aged 38 and 20, were also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.

All five have been remanded in custody.
