Despite the vehicle ramming police cars in a bid to prevent being stopped, officers were able to bring it to a halt at Junction 5 near Aylesford.

Following a search, officers discovered and seized a live firearm, class B drugs along with two mobile phones.

Kane McLeod, of Wordsworth Avenue in Derby, has been charged with possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, possessing a firearm when prohibited for life, disqualified driving, driving without insurance, refusing a preliminary roadside drug test and two counts of possession of class B drugs.

The 30-year-old was remanded in custody and is due to appear at Medway Magistrates’ Court today.
