Vacant Dorothy Perkins and Burton store in Maidstone, could be turned into a hair and cosmetics store

A town centre space previously occupied by two retailers is set to be turned into a hair and beauty shop.

Plans to transform the old Burton and Dorothy Perkins stores in Week Street, Maidstone, have been submitted to the council.

If approved, Rimzi hair and cosmetics would take over the site in the heart of the town.

Both closed in 2021 after online fashion retailer Boohoo completed a deal to buy them and Wallis brands.

The online giant announced it would pay £25.2 million for the brands from the administrators of the Arcadia Group.

Now, proposals sent to the local authority outline plans to give the bottom floor of the site a new look which matches that of applicant Rimzi’s style.

It would be the latest change in the town centre after Greggs opened its third store in August.
