Homes in Coxheath and Loose, Maidstone without electricity after power cable fault

Power has been restored to hundreds of homes after a cable fault took them temporarily off-grid.

Originally, more than 1,500 residents in Loose and Coxheath in Maidstone were affected by the issue.

This was later lowered to 125 but now all bar one households have had electricity restored.

UK Power Networks sent out an alert just after 11.10am to those living in the ME15 0 and ME17 4 postcode areas.

The text read: “We are aware of an unexpected power cut. We did not know it was going to happen, so providing prior notice wasn’t possible.

“We’re sorry if your power is off, we are working quickly and safely to get the lights back on.”
