Window smashed at McDonald's Week Street, Maidstone

An impatient customer couldn't wait any longer for a McMuffin, and smashed the window of a fast food franchise - eight minutes before it opened.

The incident occurred at the McDonald's in Week Street, Maidstone, at around 4.52am today.

It's reported a man heatbutted the main doors to the restaurant, before kicking the window and climbing through the smashed glass to confront staff.

Kent Police attended and arrested a 31-year-old man, from Sevenoaks, on suspicion of criminal damage.

As officers were dealing with the incident, a second man is reported to have caused further damage, before also crawling into the premises.

The 38-year-old, from Aylesford, was also arrested on suspicion of criminal damage.

An engineer was called to temporarily fix the damage, making it safe, before a more permanent repair will be implemented.

A McDonald's spokesperson said: "We can confirm that in the early morning of Sunday, a window of our Week Street restaurant was smashed in order to gain entry. Police were called by staff who attended and arrested the individuals involved."

Both men remain in custody.
