Commuters have been suffering severe delays on the M25 in Kent this morning after a serious lorry crash.

Two HGVs collided on the clockwise stretch of the motorway between J5 for the M26/A21 and J6 for Godstone at just after 8am.

Kent Fire and Rescue Service crews cut one driver free from his vehicle after the smash.

The air ambulance was called and Kent Police said the man was described as having minor injuries.

Traffic on both sides of the motorway was held at about 8.30am as the air ambulance landed.

The anti-clockwise carriageway re-opened around 15 minutes later, but the clockwise stretch remained partially blocked for recovery work before being re-opened at around 9.30am.

It led to heavy traffic and long delays in both directions, with queues on the clockwise carriageway stretching back to J4 for Orpington.

The crash involved a 24-tonne Mercedes truck and a 7.5-tonne HGV. One of the lorries was carrying fresh fish.

Two fire crews were at the scene until around 8.35am.

A third vehicle, a flatbed lorry, was also reported to have been involved in the crash.
