Car crashes into central reservation, causing M20 delays

There were lengthy delays on a major motorway after a car crashed into a central reservation on the M20 near Operation Brock.

It happened at around 10am and one lane was closed, leading to 25-minute delays, between junction 8 for Maidstone and junction 9 for Ashford. There were two miles of congestion coastbound and 3.5 miles of congestion London-bound.

It comes just a day after the Operation Brock traffic mitigation scheme - including the moveable barrier on the M20 between Ashford and Maidstone - was put in place.

Shortly after midday, all lanes were re-opened.

A police spokesman said: "Kent Police was called at around 10.10am on Monday regarding a report that a car had collided with the central reservation of the coast-bound carriageway of the M20, between junctions 8 and 9.

"Officers and highways officers attended the scene, where no injuries were reported."
