Two people were taken to hospital. Emergency services were at the scene this morning, with police leading the response.

Initially it was thought the stretch of road would not re-open until around 3.15pm, but Highways England say the closures are now being lifted.

There are still some delays however.

Diverted traffic should leave the M20 at junction 8 and join the A20 towards Ashford.

Continue to the junction with Fougeres Way and then take the first exit to head northbound and rejoin the M20 eastbound at junction 9.

Anyone travelling from further away is being urged to consider using the A2 and M2 instead.

However, there are currently delays on the M2 coastbound following a crash between junction 5 (Stockbury) and junction 6 (Faversham).

Police say the crash happened at around 9.30pm on Tuesday and involved two lorries, a van and a car.

Investigation work is taking place and the vehicles are being recovered.

Kent Police has now issued an appeal, with a spokesman saying: "Kent Police’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit is investigating the circumstances and would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the collision that is yet to make contact.

"Investigators would also like to obtain any dashcam footage recorded between junctions 8 and 9 of the M20 for the moments leading up to the collision.

"Anyone with information can contact Kent Police on 01622 798538 quoting HW/SW/25/20.

"Alternatively email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk."
