Traffic held on the M20 London-bound between junction 6 for Maidstone and junction 5 for Aylesford due to a crash

Traffic was temporarily held on a motorway for a second time today following a crash.

Motorists are queuing between junction 6 for Maidstone and Blue Bell Hill and junction 5 for Aylesford on the M20 heading towards London.

According to traffic monitoring tool Inrix, traffic was stopped at around 7.30pm.

As of 9pm this evening National Highways had reported traffic had been released but there were still delays due to a single lane closure.

The police have been contacted for further information.

It comes after another part of the M20 reopened this evening following an earlier accident between junction 10 for Ashford and junction 11 for Westenhanger.

Two people had to be freed from an overturned van which caused traffic to back up.

The coastbound stretch was closed while the emergency services responded to the incident shortly before 3pm.
