Maidstone schoolgirl Alessia Russo capped a dream week training at the new national football centre by scoring on her England debut.

St Simon Stock School student Russo, 13, fired the third goal as England under-15s beat the Republic of Ireland 3-1 in a friendly on the replica Wembley pitch at St George’s Park in Burton.

Chelsea midfielder Russo (pictured) and her England team-mates were treated like professional footballers during the week-long training camp, including sessions with sport scientists, nutritionists and psychologists.

Dad Mario said: "Alessia had a fantastic week and feels a better player for the experience. Scoring a goal was the icing on the cake.

"She came in from the right to meet a cross and fired the ball in via the bar to make it 3-0 just before half-time."

Russo is set to attend an elite performance camp later this month as she looks to secure a place on the next England squad get-together in February.
