Paul Booth came off the bench to fire Maidstone United into the Ryman League Division 1 South play-off final on Tuesday night.

Veteran striker Booth (pictured) crashed home a loose ball in the 76th minute as United beat Folkestone 1-0 in front of almost 2,200 fans at the Gallagher Stadium.

Stones boss Jay Saunders won the tactical battle by matching up the visitors' three-man midfield.

The move paid off as Stones stopped Invicta dangerman Darren Smith pulling the strings.

Ade Olorunda headed Michael Phillips' cross straight at Jack Delo while the Folkestone keeper did brilliantly to turn Alex Flisher's effort over the bar as Maidstone enjoyed the best of the first half.

Invicta threatened early in the second half without testing home keeper Charlie Mitten.

They threw defender Frankie Chappell up front after going a goal down but United had few problems seeing out the match.

Stones will host Faversham in the final on Saturday (3pm).
