Former player Nick Barnes has re-signed for Maidstone United this week as joint-bosses Alan Walker and Lloyd Hume continue to reshape their squad for next season.

The former Tonbridge midfielder, who finished last season at Ryman League Division 1 North side East Thurrock, left in November 2006 to sign for home-town club Dartford.

Barnes made 30 appearances, scoring six goals in his previous spell with the club, and Hume (pictured) says he is delighted to see him back. He said: “Nick had a reputation for being a hot-head, but I think he’s matured now.

"He is a great acquisition to the squad which is developing into a good mix of youth and experience.”

Defenders James Peacock and Ashley Ulph are the latest players to commit themselves to the club, with the squad due back for pre-season training at the end of the month.
