Main act pull out of Maidstone Ramblin Man Fair slot

A world-renowned band has pulled out of Kent’s biggest rock festival amid security fears.

Kansas, famous for hit songs Carry On My Wayward Son and Dust In The Wind, has cancelled their entire European tour including their date at Maidstone’s Ramblin’ Man Fair.

Organisers of the event, held on the final weekend in July, delivered the disappointing news on social media with a statement from the band.

The post said: “Kansas regretfully announces the cancellation of its 2017 European Tour.

“The cancellation is based on safety and security warnings issued by the United States government and various U.S. law enforcement agencies concerning Americans traveling in Europe this summer.

“Kansas is extremely saddened that the band will not be able to perform for its European fans this year.

“A new headline act for the 'Prog In The Park' stage will be announced in due course.”

This year’s Ramblin' Man Fair will be the third time Mote Park opens its grounds to thousands of rock fans from across the world.

It is the first time in its three-year history it will run across three days with a number of top acts including Extreme, Saxon and ZZ Top across three days.
