Yalding: Man airlifted to hospital with serious head injuries after falling through a roof in Kenward Road

A man was flown to a London hospital with serious head injuries after a roof collapsed at a property in Yalding.

The victim, aged in his 30s, was injured at an address opposite The Kenward Trust headquarters in Kenward Road.

A helicopter landed in a nearby field, and police, paramedics and a fire officer were also called to the scene.

A spokesman for Kent Fire and Rescue Service said an officer attended to check on the extent of structural damage but left shortly afterwards.

Only a small section of the roof is believed to have collapsed.

The man also sustained stomach injuries and was treated at the scene before being taken to St George's Hospital.

An ambulance spokesman confirmed he was unconscious and in a serious condition at the time.

A Kent Police spokesman said: "We were called at 9.46am to reports a man had been injured following a fall from a building in Kenward Road, Yalding. Officers attended the scene and the man was taken to a London Hospital with a serious head injury. The Health and Safety Executive has been informed of the matter."

The incident happened shortly after 9.30am on Friday, but details have only just emerged.

The man's current condition is not yet known.
