Canterbury man charged with stealing from HMV and House of Fraser in Maidstone

A Canterbury man will appear in court for allegedly stealing from two town centre shops in Maidstone and assaulting an emergency worker.

Leroy Washington was arrested on suspicion of theft in Pudding Lane on Monday morning.

The 44-year-old was later charged with two thefts from stores in the County Town and assaulting an emergency worker.

The thefts are alleged to have taken place at HMV and House of Fraser, in Fremlin Walk, on Monday.

Washington, of Brymore Road, has been bailed and will appear at Maidstone Magistrates' Court on March 30.
