British Transport Police have released this image of a man they would like to speak to after a seemingly unprovoked attack left the victim with a broken jaw.

It left the 46-year-old victim, from Maidstone, needing to have several of his teeth removed and he has also had a metal plate fitted to his jawbone.

The assault happened at Maidstone East rail station on Sunday, March 1 just before 8.45pm.

The victim had been out during the day and was making his way home when he was assaulted at the station.

He was walking along the platform when the man, without warning, threw a punch and knocked him to ground.

It was not until the next morning, when the victim went to hospital, that the full extent of his injuries were revealed.

DC Andy Devereese added: “This was a sudden and vicious assault and I am calling on anyone with information to come forward.

“I have also released the image of a man who, I believe, has vital information about the incident. Do you know who he is?”
