Long Lane, Boughton Monchelsea near Maidstone hit by more flytipping as mattress and wood dumped

A hotspot for flytipping has been hit once again as burnt-out mattresses and planks of wood have been dumped in the road.

Drivers along Long Lane in Boughton Monchelsea near Maidstone have been avoiding a huge pile of dumped rubbish since March 17.

Planks of wood and bits of furniture were piled in the middle of the road and cars could be seen having to drive around it through a boggy grassy knoll to avoid the waste.

It had since been moved to the side of the road into a hedge but on March 21 the pile grew bigger and a mattress was left.

Another mattress was then dumped three days later and looked to be burnt out.

Roads in and around Boughton Monchelsea are commonly targeted by fly-tippers with another case coming a few days earlier in Butt Green Lane, Linton.

A nearby resident said they had alerted the council and that it was scheduled to be taken away today (March 28).

Maidstone Borough Council has been asked for comment.
