New Maidstone company meeting demand for emergency short-term lets

A newly founded Maidstone company has found an unexpected niche in the property market.

Angus Kennedy and his son Leon set up Blue Buzzard Property in March, with the idea of managing properties for landlords.

Mr Kennedy, 57, said: "We thought we would offer short-term lets to those in need of temporary serviced accommodation. We had in mind contractors and the like, looking to stay in the town for work purposes.

"What we found is that there is a huge demand for such properties, but from a completely different quarter.

"We've been contacted by dozens of families, who are in the process of moving house, caught with nowhere to live between the sale of their old home and the completion of their next new-build property.

"With the current hold-ups in the supply chain of materials for the building industry, many are finding the completion date for their new property being pushed back.

"As a consequence some families are really desperate, with nowhere to go in the interim."

Mr Kennedy said his business, based in London Road, would like to hear from any estate agents or landlords who had property that might be suitable for short term lets.
