Motorist confirmed dead after crash on A229 Linton Road at Loose, near Maidstone

A man in his 70s has been confirmed as having died following a crash in Loose, near Maidstone, earlier today.

It is understood he had been behind the wheel of a white Hyundai car traveeling on the A229 Linton Road over the Loose viaduct at around 5am.

His vehicle smashed into the wall which separates the road from the footpath.

Emergency teams attended the scene and the road was shut until around 3pm this afternoon.

Now police investigating the crash are appealing for witnesses and any footage of the incident.

A police statement said: “The Serious Collision Investigation Unit are investigating the incident and are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or vehicle beforehand to come forward.

“Witnesses should call the SCIU appeal line on 01622 798538 or email sciu.td@kent.pnn.police.uk quoting reference AH/CF/072/23.

“Anyone with dashcam footage or private CCTV taken in the area which might assist enquiries can submit it using the public portal link.”

The identity of the deceased has not yet been confirmed.
