A motorway will remain closed until this afternoon following two crashes in the same area this morning.

The coast bound carriageway of the M20 motorway remains closed between junctions 1 and 3 following a serious collision involving a lorry and a motorcyclist.

The incident was reported to Kent Police at 6am. A second incident involving further vehicles happened at the same location shortly after.

Police, Kent Fire and Rescue Service and the South East Coast Ambulance Service all attended the scene and three people have been taken to hospital.

The road is anticipated to be closed until this afternoon and there are currently significant delays, which are also affecting the M25. Details of diversions can be found on the Highways England website m.highways.gov.uk/website/#news
