Tovil, Maidstone: Couple accused of murder of John Birney at Rocky Hill Terrace

A couple arrested on suspicion of murder following the discovery of a man's body in Maidstone will face no charges.

A 25-year-old-man and a 31-year-old woman, both from Tovil, were arrested after John Birney was found dead at his Rocky Hill Terrace flat in June.

Inquiries into the cause of the 69-year-old's death are ongoing.

Allison Tomlin, of no fixed address, was charged with Mr Birney's murder.

The 48-year-old will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on Monday, September 14, to enter a plea.

She was remanded in custody until that date at a hearing in June.
