Netflix has revealed the name of the new drama currently being shot in Kent.
The streaming giant has now confirmed film crews and prop police cars seen in Maidstone yesterday were for new British thriller series, Treason, starring Marvel fan favourite, Charlie Cox.
The six-part drama will not only include the Daredevil actor but also Quantum of Solace star Olga Kurylenko and Game of Thrones actress Oona Chaplin.
According to IMDB, the online film database, the show is set to follow Adam Lawrence, a man who was trained and groomed by MI6.
His career seems set, however, when the past catches up with him in the form of Kara, a Russian spy with whom he shares a complicated past, he is forced to question everything and everyone in his life.
The drama is written by Matt Charman, a writer and producer best known for Bridge of Spies.
It is being directed by Louise Hooper, a British drama director known for the four part thriller Flesh and Blood.
Ciarán Hinds, Adam James, Avital Lvova, Kevin Harvey and Joe Macaulay are also part of the star-studded cast.
Remedy Pictures LTD, the production company filming the drama for Netflix, was spotted outside Maidstone's County Hall yesterday until around 6pm.
The area being used for filming was still accessible to the public, however a notice said anyone entering the area may be captured on film – with the footage possibly being made publicly available at a later date.
Many of the town's residents and workers felt excited at the prospect of a Netflix drama being filmed in the area.
Amy Walker, who works near to where the filming was happening, said: "This seems to be one of the better, more interesting things to happen in the area.
"You never know what is going on it Maidstone but it is nice to have something filmed for a big tv show close to home."
Her colleague, Orla Monk, agreed.
She said: "It's a fabulous thing to be happening, I work nearby and there have been no issues with them being here.
