Part of the A249 was closed this morning after a crash between two cars caused a vehicle to lose its trailer.

The accident happened on the Sheppey-bound carriageway of the busy road by Detling, Maidstone, at around 10am.

A pick up truck carrying logs and a BMW were involved .

No serious injuries were reported and the road has now been cleared and traffic has returned to normal.

National Highways has also been contacted for comment.
