Southeastern says staff have completed some work and the London-bound line trains will run at a “much-reduced speed” through the area.

The first train left Ashford at 10:55am.

Trains had been diverted at Paddock Wood while services between Maidstone East and Charing Cross were unaffected.

Network Rail engineers are on the scene.

Southeastern said tickets were being accepted on Stagecoach bus route 10X between Ashford and Maidstone East.

The rail provider also said tickets were being accepted at no extra cost on highspeed services between Ashford and St Pancras, and on the Underground between its London Terminals.
