McDonald's drive-thru plans for M20 Junction 8 services submitted

Plans to turn a popular McDonald's into a drive-thru have been submitted.

If approved, the famous fast-food chain just off Junction 8 of the M20 near Maidstone will allow drivers to place orders from their cars.

Currently it shares a building with a Road Chef restaurant and WH Smith and is close to a Costa drive-thru and petrol station.

Proposals would see an ATM demolished and a slip road created for drivers to place their orders and pick them up.

The site currently has 292 parking spaces and would lose 37 as a result of the changes.

Documents for the plans, on Maidstone Borough Council's planning application portal, reveal there would not be a change in the number of jobs at the restaurant.

Last year the services were ranked among the worst in the UK, with Tripadvisor reviewers criticising its "filthy toilets" and "zombie like" staff.
