A busy weekend saw police make five arrests in Maidstone and Tunbridge Wells

Police were busy dealing with alcohol-related incidents in towns in west Kent over the weekend.

Among those dealt with by officers were Jessica Spaulding, 18, from Western Road, Wadhurst, who was arrested in Mount Pleasant Road, Tunbridge Wells, at 12.30am on Friday, and later charged with being drunk and disorderly and assaulting a police officer. She was bailed to appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court on Wednesday, October 23.

Kevin Unwin, 53, was charged with assault causing actual bodily harm after he allegedly punched a fellow homeless man in the street. He was arrested in Gabriel’s Hill, Maidstone, at 8.20pm on Friday, August 30, and has been bailed to appear in court on Tuesday, October 8.
Gareth Read, 37, from Colchester in Essex was arrested at 11.40pm also on Friday in East Street, Maidstone, and was charged with assault. He will appear at Sevenoaks Magistrates Court on Wednesday, September 4.
Twenty-year-old Brett Winchester was arrested at 1.50am on Sunday and charged with assault causing actual bodily harm against a woman near his home in Church Street, Maidstone. He has been bailed to appear in court on Monday, September 9.
Robert Massey, 21, was arrested in Week Street at 2am on Sunday. The Perryfield Street resident is alleged to have used threatening words in public.
Divisional Commander Chief Supt Steve Corbishley said: "Most people are able to go out and behave themselves but our message to those who cross a line is clear – we will not tolerate bad behaviour and abuse.
"It takes seconds to make the right decision. Make sure you walk away from confrontation and if a situation is getting out of hand seek help straight away."
