So far nobody has been caught with any suspicious items.

A tweet by Police in Maidstone said: "Maidstone Town Team out deploying the knife bar again in Brenchley Gardens.

"Three stop and searches conducted. Stay Safe"

Officers have been stationed with the equipment - which functions like a metal detector - in the entrance to the park to deter anyone from carrying a weapon.

It was used back in April as part as a crack down on knife crime.

Latest Ministry of Justice figures show that 310 criminals were sentenced or cautioned for a first time knife or offensive weapon crime in the year ending June 2019.

The device is not permanently fixed there and can be moved to be used in different locations.
