A main road had to be closed this morning after a car crashed into a tree.

Police were called to the accident in Ashford Road, close to Turkey Mill in Maidstone, at about 6.55am following reports that a vehicle had come off the A20.

South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended to treat the driver for his injuries. He was taken to Tunbridge Wells Hospital.

The road was closed between Huntsman Lane and New Cut Road and reopened at 10.23am.
