Lorry hits pedestrian in Holland Road, Maidstone, Kent Police and Kent Fire and Rescue Service on scene

A man has been rushed to a London hospital after he was hit by a lorry this morning.

Holland Road in Maidstone is closed between Hedley Street and Sittingbourne Road, after the crash at around 9.50am.

The pedestrian, a man in his 30s, has been taken to Kings College Hospital with a serious leg injury.

Firefighters were on hand to get the pedestrian onto a stretcher, before he was passed into the care of paramedics.

A spokesperson from Secamb said: "We responded to a collision between a lorry and pedestrian in Holland Road, Maidstone with two ambulances, two cars and our Hazardous Area Response Team.

"The air ambulance team also attended."

The pedestrian was then flown to London via air ambulance.

A cordon is in place around Princes Street, with at least four police cars currently at the scene.
