CCTV released after employee at Sainsbury's Local in Tonbridge Road 'assaulted' by meat thief

A CCTV image has been released after a man allegedly assaulted a shop worker while stealing meat from a store in Maidstone.

A man entered Sainsbury’s Local in Tonbridge Road at around 7pm on Tuesday, July 7 and is reported to have placed a number of meat products into a bag.

However, when he tried to leave without paying, a member of staff tried to stop him, and was then assaulted, it is alleged.

The man is then said to have left the premises without paying.

Police would like to identify the person pictured in the CCTV images, who they believe can help with their inquiries.
