Land Rover stolen from Lenham found stuck in the mud in Faversham

A man has been arrested after a stolen Land Rover was found abandoned when it is thought to have got stuck in some mud.

Police were told the vehicle had been stolen from a home in High Street in Lenham at 11.30pm on Wednesday and later found the vehicle in Vicarage Lane in Faversham.

Moments after finding the 4x4, officers noticed a suspicious car darting from the scene at high speed.

They followed the driver and, after stopping him, arrested him on suspicion of theft, going equipped to steal, and disqualified driving.

The 31-year-old man from Harrietsham remains in custody while the investigation continues.

Police said the owner of the stolen Land Rover was "over the moon" to get his beloved car returned "almost undamaged".

Officers later tweeted about the incident.
