Man appears in court after being charged with two attempted murders in Maidstone town centre

A 29-year-old has appeared in court after two men were reportedly struck by a car in the centre of Maidstone.

Anthony Deeprose, of no fixed address, was charged with two counts of attempted murder after an incident early Saturday morning.

Emergency crews arrived shortly before 12.30am with one of the alleged victims requiring treatment for head injuries.

He was taken to a London hospital where he remains in a serious but stable condition.

Deeprose, who was also charged with assault by beating, failing to stop following a collision in which a person was injured, disqualified driving and driving without insurance, was remanded in custody to appear before Folkestone Magistrates’ Court today.

During a brief hearing he was further remanded to next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on December 12.

Two men, aged 21 and 35, who were also arrested in connection with the incident were bailed to return to the police station on February 6.
