But the 47-year-old Chatham father died a few days after the incident in August and now Gibbs has pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

The attack happened near the Hare and Hounds pub in Lower Boxley Road, Maidstone. Mr Looseley was punched in the head.

Gibbs, of Nickley Wood, Ashford appeared by prison video link from Elmley and admitted the unlawful killing.

In Maidstone Crown Court, members of Mr Looseley's family were present to follow proceedings.

Sentencing has been adjourned until February 17 for the preparation of a probation report which will also consider what danger Gibbs could pose in the future.
