The former Maplesden Noakes pupil, of Maidstone, was tragically killed on Wednesday evening on Pilgrims Way.

His blue Vauxhall Corsa careered up a steep bank between Eccles and Blue Bell Hill and rolled over, ending up on its roof in a field.

The police are appealing for anyone who saw the car in the minutes before the 5.40pm crash to come forward.

Friends took to Facebook today to pay tribute to a "funny, caring and talented" young man.

Matt Gibson wrote: "One of the funniest, warmest and most friendly people you could've hoped to have met. He will be sorely missed. Rest in peace my friend."

While Simon Gibbs added: "He was one of my closest friends at the start of school. I still can't believe this has happened to a funny, caring and talented lad. I will miss you. R.I.P."
