Power line failure between Strood and Paddock Wood causing travel chaos on the trains

Train users are facing disruption to their journeys after a power outage on a rail line.

A replacement bus service will run from Maidstone West tonight following an electricity supply failure between Strood and Paddock Wood, meaning all lines are closed.

All trains running through these stations will be cancelled and disruption is expected until 7pm, according to South Eastern. There is currently no service on the Medway Valley line.

A spokesman said: "Replacement buses are running between Strood and Paddock Wood. You may use your ticket on London Underground between Southeastern's London terminal stations to assist with your journey, at no extra charge.

"Customers travelling to and from Maidstone may travel to and from Maidstone East. "

The firm advised passengers to check their routes before travelling and Network Rail is currently carrying out voltage checks on the line.

"You may be entitled to compensation if you experience a delay in completing your journey today.

"Please keep your train ticket and make a note of your journey, as both will be required to support any claim," the spokesman added.

The 17.07 from St Pancras to Dover Priory was also cancelled because of a train fault.
