It had been affecting people in the ME17 1 postcode area - including some living in Hollingbourne, Leeds and Harrrietsham.

A spokesman for UK Power Networks said: "We became aware of a power cut at 11.30am.

"We’re sorry for any disruption this may have caused you.

"We didn’t know in advance there would be a power cut but now that we know, our teams will do everything they can to get your power back quickly."

The issue was resolved shortly before 3.10pm.

Meanwhile a separate outage has been affecting people in Faversham.

Engineers have been in the ME13 7 and ME13 8 areas to investigate a power cut affecting hundreds of properties.

“We believe our engineers have been able to restore power to all 473 customers in the ME13 7 and ME13 8 area, by diverting power around the overhead cable fault,” a statement from the operator at 3.55pm explained.

“If your power isn't back on we'll need to hear from you.

“We are pleased we have been able to restore power sooner than we anticipated, so we're sorry for any disruption or worry this caused you.”

A third outage also led to the company receiving 30 calls from customers regarding an issue in Gillingham this morning.

People in the ME7 3 and TW11 8 postcode areas were without power from 3am.

UK Power Networks confirmed the issue had since been resolved shortly after 12pm.

It comes as high winds have led to warnings of road and rail disruption in several parts of the UK.
