A pensioner suffered serious head injuries after he was hit by a car.

The local man in his 70s, who was a pedestrian, was struck by a blue Volkswagen Polo, in Philpots Lane, Hildenborough, just after 6pm yesterday (Saturday, March 3).

He was taken to King's College Hospital in London for treatment.

His condition was this morning described as serious.

Kent police are appealing for witnesses to the road traffic collision to contact them.
