A woman is recovering in hospital after being kicked in the face in Maidstone town centre.

The victim, in her 30s, is said to have been attacked by a man in Week Street just before the junction with Station Road just before 4am today.

Another person tried to intervene and suffered minor injuries during the incident.

Kent Police are now reviewing CCTV as part of their enquiries and believe there were a number of people in the area at the time who may have also witnessed the assault.
