Children may have been on holidays abroad, but a waterfight at a play scheme has been one of the most enjoyable aspects of the summer holidays.

On Wednesday, August 19, children at the Hotfoot play scheme run by Maidstone council, took part in a journalism workshop run by Kent Messenger reporter Mary Graham.

The youngsters are pictured above having their photograph taken by KM photographer Matthew Reading.

Later in the week children will enjoy a circus workshop and skills.

As part of the workshop, children explained what they had enjoyed about the play scheme and their summer holidays.

The group includes Eleanor and Louis Callaghan, eight and six, Elizabeth Singer, eight, Matthew Asekome, 10, Thomas, Lucette, eight and Fletcher Humphrey, six.

Elizabeth said: "I enjoy coming to Hotfoot and I also went to Dorset this year and went crab fishing."

Eleanor and Louis added: "We both went to Italy this year and and we like dance and drama and sports and games while we are at Hotfoot."

Rebecca Dring, 11, added: "I enjoyed the water fight because we all got soaked and we covered the leaders!"

Hotfoot is running in several locations in Maidstone over the summer holidays.
