KENT speedway and grass track star Paul Hurry finished third in the second round of the 2007 World Long Track Championships at St Macaire in France at the weekend.

Hurry, from Maidstone, had to pre-qualify for the meeting, which he did comfortably to join 17 other riders from around the world.

He then finished third behind German Stephan Katt and Joonas Kylmakorpi of Finland.

Saturday's performance puts Hurry into ninth place overall in the championships with just one round remaining, again in France, on July 13.

A good performance there could possibly see the 31-year-old finish in the top three.
