Paul Booth joked he would score the winning goal against Folkestone.

Substitute Booth led hometown club Maidstone to victory on Tuesday night after replacing Ade Olorunda midway through the second half.

The veteran striker revealed: "I was joking with Ade before the game. I told him to keep it at 0-0, then I’d come on and score the winner.

"The ball seemed like it was stuck under Danny Lye’s foot for about 10 minutes. I was going away from the ball asking Micky Phillips to set me, then I got a shout to hit it. It took a bit of a deflection and went in.

"It wasn’t one of my best goals but it’s certainly one of my favourites because of what it meant for the club."

Booth has no idea whether his winner will secure a start in the play-off final against Faversham on Saturday.

He said: "I’d love to start but all I want is for us to win the game. Faversham are another well-organised side.

"I’d like to put one over on them. Let’s make sure we really push ourselves for the last game."
