Watch as Alessia Russo scores outrageously cheeky goal to help England reach final of Women's Euros with semi-final win over Sweden at Bramall Lane

Maidstone-born Alessia Russo scored an outrageously cheeky goal to help England reach the Women’s Euros final.

The Lionesses were already 2-0 ahead at Sheffield United’s Bramall Lane on Tuesday when 23-year-old Russo was introduced after the restart in front of a crowd of 28,624.

After Russo had seen an effort from close range saved by Hedvig Lindahl, the Manchester United forward chased down the ball and whipped out a backheel that nutmegged the keeper for England’s third.

It was a goal which drew plenty of attention on social media.

Former midfielder Chris Kamara, now a presenter, wrote on Twitter: “Fran Kirby makes it 4-0 but what about Alessia Russo with the cheeky back heel - it’s coming home.”

Gold medal-winning hockey player Sam Quek Tweeted: “What have I just seen from Alessia Russo.

“You cheeky beggar!”

One of Alessia's brothers, Giorgio, also wrote: "Definitely taught her that one too… didn’t I @alessiarusso7."

Russo, having replaced Ellen White, earlier had almost made an instant impact as she crossed for Lauren Hemp who hit the bar from point-blank range.

Beth Mead's sixth goal of tournament had got Sarina Wiegman’s side going and Lucy Bronze added a second for the Lionesses in the semi-final, soon after the restart, before Fran Kirby netted a fourth after Russo’s effort to round off the 4-0 victory.

Russo and co will now meet either Germany or France in the final at Wembley on Sunday, with England having previously not made the Euros final since 2009.
