Maidstone United midfielder Jack Evans joins Margate

Maidstone midfielder Jack Evans has joined National League South club Margate.

He’s completed a move to Hartsdown Park after falling out of favour at Maidstone.

The deal sees him reunited with new Gate boss Steve Watt, who worked with Evans during a loan spell at Hastings, and ex-Stones team-mate James Rogers.

Maidstone manager Jay Saunders said: “Jack’s done well in spells for us but it’s one of them where we brought Stuart Lewis and Reece Prestedge in and Jack Paxman has made that position his own.

“It was always going to be difficult for him and with young Harry Phipps coming through and Jake McCarthy, there’s a lot of competition.

“Jack just wants to play and he’s a good player.

“He knows a couple of the boys at Margate and he’ll fit in well.”

Evans started his career at Gillingham and joined Stones from Eastbourne last summer.

Margate completed a second signing when they brought in keeper Jon Miles on loan from Ebbsfleet. The 23-year-old, who spent 14 years with Tottenham Hotspur, will remain at Hartsdown until the end of the season.

He replaces Lewis Ward, who has returned to parent club Reading after his loan spell finished.

The Blues have also confirmed that Hakeem Adelakun has left the club. Adelakun featured at left-back and striker after joining on dual registration from Three Bridges.
