Maidstone boss Jay Saunders won't take a chance on the fitness of Alex Flisher against Bath

Alex Flisher has been to see a specialist following an injury setback.

The Maidstone winger has missed the last four games with tight hamstrings and won’t be risked at Bath City on Saturday (3pm).

His knee has held up well since recovering from a nine-month lay-off but Stones need to solve the hamstring issues.

Manager Jay Saunders said: “Flish went to see a back specialist on Tuesday night – we think it might be related.

“You can’t risk tight hamstrings and I can’t consider him until he’s had a couple of training sessions.

“It’s frustrating but the good thing is it isn’t his knee playing up.

“I always said it would be a bonus if we got him back before Christmas. We got him back a bit earlier and now he’s had a little setback.

“When you’ve been out for a long time you do pick up other injuries. You see it all the time. The main thing is we are patient.”

Second-placed Stones have no other injury worries going into the game at Bath’s 9,000-capacity Twerton Park ground.

The Somerset club sit mid-table in National League South but are dangerous opponents.
Saunders said: “They’re one of the best teams to come to the Gallagher and we’ll have our work cut out but we’ve had back-to-back wins and it’s one we can look forward to.

“It’s a difficult slope there but our away form’s been pretty good so there’s no reason why we can’t go there and get something.”
