KENT golfer Danielle Masters has secured a place on the prestigious West Coast tour in the USA.

Masters, 22, from Maidstone, is currently based at Chart Hills Golf Club in Biddenden but will soon be playing courses from Scotsdale in Arizona, to Shanghai in China.

Success on the West Coast tour against some of the sport’s finest international talent will carry her nearer to the pinnacle of women’s golf – the Ladies PGA Tour, in 2006.

"This is a tremendous opportunity," said Masters. "I’ve been training hard to develop both my technique and my physical strength and know I am ready to play my best golf."

"At the end of the tour in September, I hope to move on to the LPGA qualifying tournament. I should know if I have done well enough to earn my LPGA card by Christmas," she added.

"I’m always keen to set myself targets and it’s my ambition to progress to become a regular top-15 world player, if not No.1. I’m determined to make the most of the opportunities I have to progress towards that goal."

Despite the amount of travelling involved, Masters will never feel far from home with coach Andrew Reynolds monitoring her progress through e-mail and video footage.

And her parents, Rob and Glenys Masters, will continue to encourage her as they have since she started playing aged ten.

"My family have given me tremendous support and I am determined to do them proud," she said. "We have all enjoyed playing golf together as a family and the encouragement I have had from them has been so valuable to me."
