Maidstone United manager Jay Saunders abandons his tracksuit for trendy new look

Jay Saunders gave Pep Guardiola a run for his money in the best-dressed manager stakes on Saturday.

It was a case of new season, new look for the Maidstone boss when his side took on Hartlepool.

After seven years, out went his usual gear - tracksuit or shorts and T-shirt - in favour of a trendy shirt-and-jeans combo that wouldn’t look out of place on the front cover of GQ magazine.

The gaffer’s new look proved quite a talking point, so what’s it all about?

“I think I’m getting a bit old for the blue Jako stuff,” said Saunders, 39.

“It makes me look like I’ve had too many Sunday roasts, so I just thought I’d try and make an effort for once!”

But is the new look here to stay?

“We’ll see. Why not? I look all right, don’t I!?” added Saunders.
