It was an event to savour for Sparrow as the Maidstone Grammar School pupil added to his southern crown.

The 13-year-old, from Marden, warmed up for the final by beating northern champion Daniella Sutton in both heats.

He went on to win the showpiece race by a mighty 8.341sec, collecting his trophy from series boss Rob Smedley.

"I made a great start off the line, pulled away and the field just couldn't catch me," said Sparrow, who would like to thank the Pixel Farm for their sponsorship.

Meanwhile, Kings Hill's Thomas Merritt will join the Total Karting Zero Championship next season.

Merritt won the Junior Club Championship at Bayford Meadows. In the final round, competing in the Silverstone class, he secured the title 32 points ahead of his nearest rival.

The 13-year-old finished on the podium in every round, which included five overall wins.

“I'm over the moon to win this championship,” he said. “I’ve been racing against some very talented drivers and so for me to take the title means the world to me.

"Throughout the year, I’ve done my best to stay focused and keep pushing, and I’m so pleased it’s all come together.

“I would like to thank everyone who has supported me, including my mum and dad, grandparents, and the entire team at Bayford.

“I hope this will be the start of bigger and better things for me in terms of motorsport and I’m really excited about the future."
