Manager George Elokobi says it would be unfair if Maidstone have to play a league game two days before their FA Cup fifth-round tie.
The Stones are to request the postponement of their National League South home match against Weymouth on February 24.
That’s after their last-16 tie, away to Sheffield Wednesday or Coventry, was scheduled for February 26 for live TV coverage.
Maidstone, as the first sixth-tier side through to the fifth round since Blyth Spartans in 1978, are flying the flag for non-league football.
They’re hoping the league look favourably on their request to rearrange the Weymouth fixture.
“That’s down to the National League to decide,” said Stones boss Elokobi.
“An email is going out to them to try to get that game postponed, to give us a chance to do our best in the FA Cup. It’s unfair otherwise.
“It’s not going to be fair if we have to play on the Saturday and then travel to either Coventry or Sheffield Wednesday on a Monday night to play a game of that magnitude.
“So we leave that with the National League and we’ll find out what the decision is.
“I don’t know what will happen. I’m not part of the league board.
“As a club, we do what we can do and we’ll get a decision one way or the other.”
