Maidstone United captain George Elokobi reunited with his Wolves number

George Elokobi has been reunited with his special number at Maidstone.

Elokobi has the No.3 on his shirt this season and it means a lot to the Stones skipper.

He made his name as the No.3 at Wolves, where he played left-back for Mick McCarthy’s side.

He’d moved into central defence by the time he joined Maidstone, wearing the No.6 in his first two seasons with the club.

But when he was offered the No.3 shirt over the summer, he had to take it.

“I just love the No.3, for different reasons,” said Elokobi.

“Being the No.3 at Wolves for so long and I’m also the third child of my mum, so I’m linked to No.3. It’s a special number.

“It’s just something I’m associated with and also my private number plate starts with G3.

“It was offered to me when they knew I was going to stay.

"They asked me if I prefer No.6 or No.3, and I said, ‘Listen, I’ll take No.3 because I’ve been No.3 for such a long time.’”
