Tommy Warrilow is warning that FA Trophy opponents AFC Sudbury will be no pushovers when they visit Longmead on Saturday.

The Tonbridge boss, who watched the Ryman League, Division 1 North side draw 1-1 at Tilbury on Tuesday, said: “They work hard and won’t come to roll over and have their tummies tickled.

“They have got a few ex-Lowestoft players and are not to be sniffed at. I am sure we are in for an absolute battle.”

Warrilow believes the third qualifying round tie is the perfect game to kick-start the Angels’ season and said: “We haven’t started yet, only coughed and spluttered so far. Nobody has been outstanding individually, which sums us up so far.”

The game is Tonbridge’s first for a fortnight, following the postponement of last week’s home derby against Ebbsfleet.

Meanwhile, finances and timing were the reasons behind the decision to release experienced Gary Borrowdale last week after only three and half months. The 28-year-old defender has joined Margate.

Warrilow said: “Gary needed to play but had been in and out of the side. I am looking to keep (Brighton loanee) Shamir Goodwin who has done well and Mikael Suarez’s loan at Thamesmead ends next week. I needed to free up some money to do that."
